Summer Camps

Yavapai College is proud to offer the boys and girls of the community the chance to participate in meaningful and fun athletic activities over the summer months. Please scroll down this page and find something that’s right for someone you know.



Free Soccer Clinic – Saturday, August 17, 2013 (Prescott)

Members of the 2013 Yavapai Soccer Team, in conjunction with Century 21-Arizona West, will be conducting a free soccer clinic at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott on Saturday, August 17. The clinic will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Boys and girls ages 5-16 are eligible to participate. No registration is required. If possible, participants should bring their own soccer ball.

In addition, a coaches clinic will take place in conjunction with the players clinic. All participants will receive a special souvenir gift. Come meet the 2013 Soccer Team Members prior to their season opener!

Softball Camp – June & July, 2013

Diamond Club Softball Camps and Clinics

The Yavapai College Softball coaching staff proudly announces our summer clinics! Firs t available will be a three day clinic on June 10-12, 2013 with the morning session as a pitching and catching clinic and the afternoon session as a hitting clinic. Then beginning June 25th our Hitting Club will start with a six week lesson plan to improve your hitting skills! Hitting Club will have two levels of hitting to help enhance your abilities or to get you started from the ground up.

Pitching/Catching Clinic

  • June 10-13, 2013
  • Ages: 8 to 18
  • Time: 8:30 to 12:30
  • Fee: $95 by June 7th
  • Late Registration: $110

Pitchers instruction will include: Fundamentals of form, speed drills, control workouts, and learn to throw new pitches.

Catchers instruction will include: Fundamental skills, blocking, quick release drills, pitch calling, and tag plays.


Hitting Clinic

  • Dates: June 10-13, 2013
  • Ages: 8 to 18
  • Time: 1:30 to 5:30
  • Fee: $95 by June 7th
  • Late Registration: $110

Hitting instruction will include: Fundamentals of form, bat speed drills, hitting moving pitches, and increase hitting power.


Hitting Club

  • Dates: 6/25, 7/2, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30
  • Ages: 10 to 18
  • Times:
    • 5:00 to 6:30 Hitting for Power
    • 6:45 to 8:15 Hitting Foundation: (every 1st time club member under 14)

Fee: $110: The fee is for all six hour and half lessons. Only 9 hitters will be allowed to register for each of the sessions. The Foundation session is to develop a quality hitting style to build on. The Power session is for older hitters that need to tweak their swing to develop a more powerful approach at the plate.

May 12, 2013 Senior / Junior Tryout Camp – Prescott

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our senior/ junior tryout camp on May 12th 2013, pitchers and catchers will work out from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm (Registration beginning at 9:15), all other position players will work out from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm (Registration beginning at 12:00).

This year we will be inviting every junior college program in Arizona to attend and evaluate your players.
Yavapai College currently has players on our roster from this camp.

To make this camp accessible to everyone, there will be a nominal fee of $40.00. Fee includes insurance and showcase. Enclosed please find our registration form. If more than one of your players wishes to attend, feel free to make copies of the form.

You will learn skills from a new perspective with a fresh, dynamic approach to teaching baseball. You will receive quality instruction in baseball skill and technical work, tactics, strategy, and games.

You will be placed in a group matching age and ability to maximize your learning experience. Instructors will closely monitor your individual needs and develop your skills and initiative so that you may personally grow from this total learning experience.

Spike Club Volleyball Camp – Mon-Wed: June 3-5, 2013: 9am – 5:30pm

This camp is designed for girls and boys ages 5 – 18 years old of all ability levels. Camp instruction will cover all basic volleyball skills including serving, passing, attacking, digging, and blocking. Team defensive and offensive strategies will also be covered.

Every camper will be placed into groups based on their age and ability level in order to maximize their growth and learning experience while at camp.

The coaching staff will include Yavapai head volleyball coach Zach Shaver who has over 15 years of camp experience including Purdue University, Notre Dame, Texas State, and the Tri State Elite Volleyball camps. Yavapai assistant coach Mandy Mellencamp and Yavapai College players will also be involved as well as regional high school and club coaches.

Basketball Camp – June 10-13, 2013

The Yavapai College Roughrider Basketball Camp is limited to ages 5-12. The camp is directed by Former YC Head Coach Brad Clifford. Registration fee for the camp is $75 per person. The fee includes professional instruction, evaluation, medical and dental insurance, t-shirts and other sport-related items. 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
