Baseball Drops 3rd Consecutive

The Roughrider baseball dropped their third consecutive game with a 14-11 loss Saturday afternoon against Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. Yavapai concludes the regular season with a 42-13 overall record and a 25-13 ACCAC mark. EAC improves to 22-33 on the season and 11-27 in the conference.

YC opened up to a commanding 10-0 lead after 3 and half innings. The Gila Monsters scored two in their half of the 4th. YC tacked on another run in their half of the fifth only to have EAC put 8 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth to knot the score. Eastern scored four more runs before a Roughrider rally fell short in the top of the ninth.

The Roughriders used 6 pitchers on the day with Matt Southard getting the start. Peter Lenstrohm took the loss in 2 innings pitched.

Offensively, Tim Arakawa and Krysthian Leal each had three hits. Leal also had 4 runs knocked in. Aaron Blair and Kyle Toth each added two hits apiece.

Next up for the Roughriders will be the NJCAA Region I Division Playoffs against an opponent and site yet to be determined in a best of three series. The playoffs will start on Thursday, May 2nd.
