Softball Sweeps Pumas

For the second time in 3 days, the Roughrider softball team swept a doubleheader from the Pumas from Paradise Valley Community College (6-18, 4-18) Saturday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field. YC won the run rule shortened first game, 10-2 and took the nightcap 10-4. Yavapai is now 20-11 overall and 16-8 in conference play.

Brooke Eifert-Pancamo carried the heavy bat for the Riders in the opener as she popped two home runs in three at bats knocking in three runners. Jade Yost had 2 hits including a home run while collecting three RBI’s. Mita Cortez, Kasey Oliver and Sam Wilson each had two hits.

Aundria Zuniga-Romero collected her 16th win on the year allowing 7 hits and striking out 3.

In the second game, Zuniga-Romero got her second win of the day in relief of starter Sarah Thompson.

Offensively, Hannah Hill provided the punch with a home run and three runs batted in. Brandi Heimburg, Oliver and Hill each had two hits. Cortez had two runs scored and two ribbies.

Yavapai plays host to fellow conference nemesis Pima Community College on Tuesday, March 19th. YC split a doubleheader with the Aztecs earlier in the season in Tucson, 4-3 and 5-7. Tuesday’s twinbill will start at 12:00 PM at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott.
