The Roughrider baseball team split a doubleheader with #3 Cochise College (16-5, 7-3) Saturday afternoon, 11-0 and 4-14. Yavapai is now 14-4 overall and 6-4 in the ACCAC.

Yavapai put together a complete game led by pitcher Jacob Doyle. The University of Arizona transfer pitched a complete game scattering three hits and striking out five.

Offensively, Humberto Aranda and Drew Turbin had three runs batted in a piece. Aranda had a double and a triple and Turbin hit a three-run bomb over the right field fence. Kyle Toth and Krysthian Leal each had two hits.

In the second game, Cochise took a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning before YC cut the lead in half with a single run in their half of the fourth. Yavapai took a 4-2 lead into the top of the eighth inning, however, Cochise posted 12 runs in their half of the inning to put the game out of reach winning on the 10-run rule.

YC pitching gave up 20 hits to the opponent batters including nine in the 8th.

Alexis Olmeda was 3 for 4 with one RBI. Tim Arakawa added two hits and one run scored.

Yavapai continues conference play on Tuesday, March 5th at Arizona Western College. The twinbill will begin at 12:00 PM.
