Softball Wins Sixth Straight

The Roughrider softball team won their sixth game of the year with a doubleheader sweep of Scottsdale Community College (8-8, 6-8) Saturday afternoon 1-0 and 4-2. YC is now 12-9 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

The first game turned into a pitching duel. Aundria Zuniga-Romero went the distance for the victory allowing on 2 hits and striking out five.

Kasey Oliver scored the lone run for the Riders scoring on an Artichoke error. Oliver was 3 for 3 on the game.

In the nightcap, Zuniga-Romero gave up two unearned runs en route to her 2nd victory of the day. The Safford native gave up 4 hits and struck out 5.

Offensively, Brandi Heimburg was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Oliver was 1 for 4 with a run scored and a run knocked in.

Yavapai has a well-deserved week off before traveling to the Valley to play Mesa Community College on Saturday, March 2nd. The ACCAC tilt will start at 12:00 PM.
