Playoff Preview

In what could be a preview of the NJCAA Region I Division I Championship game, the Roughrider softball team split a doubleheader with Pima Community College in Tucson, 4-0 and 2-9. YC is now 53-8 overall and 41-5 in ACCAC action. Pima owns a 47-12 overall mark and 37-9 conference record.

Estela Pinon pitched a gem in the first game tossing a one-hitter and striking out five. Ashleigh Seipel was 2 for 4 from the dish with a double and two runs knocked in. Brandi Heimburg was also 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kat Macias was 1 for 3 with a run scored and a run batted.

In the second game, Amelia Willadsen was the pitcher of record allowing only one earned run against her. Estela Pinon was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Heimburg was 1 for 2 with a sole home run.

Yavapai concludes the 2012 regular season on Saturday, April 28th at Bill Vallely Field. YC will host GateWay Community College. The twinbill will start at 12:00 PM.
