The Yavapai College soccer team has been the class of the conference all season so it was no surprise that it dominated NJCAA Region One awards. Freshmen forward Kyle Morris, the conference leading scorer, was voted Region One Player of the Year. Freshmen defender Eduardo Jasso joins Morris on the first-team All-Region along with freshmen defender Sam Cusack and sophomore midfielder Adam Crossingham. This season’s selections brings Yavapai all-time total to 110 All-Region players in their 23-year history.

The Roughriders (18-0-3 this season, 495-39-18 all-time) will begin their post-season schedule on Wednesday against the winner of Monday’s match between Phoenix and Glendale. Yavapai will host the mid-week match at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. If Yavapai wins on Wednesday, they will play for the Region One Championship on Saturday, October 29 at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Region One champion will host the West District Playoffs, Nov. 4-5.

The Yavapai College soccer program is seeking their 20th appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament since 1990. The Roughriders have played in 13 National Championships games, capturing seven national titles.
