Soccer Shuts Out Artichokes

Yavapai soccer picked up their eleventh win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Scottsdale Community College Thursday evening in Prescott Valley. YC is now 37-0-0 overall at the Amphitheater in Prescott Valley. The seven-time National Champion maintains their foothold on first place with a 10-0-2 league mark.

In the 31st minute of the game, Ryan Beggs found the net to take the early 1-0 lead. Shortly after halftime (58th minute), Julien Dragomir scored the first of his two goals on the night on an assist from Stuart Bryant. In the 84th minute, Dragomir took a pass from Adam Crossingham to secure the victory and avenge an early season tie with the Artichokes.

Daniel Sellitti played all 90 minutes in goal for his second shutout of the season.

On Saturday, Yavapai travels to Yuma for a showdown with the second place team, Arizona Western College (10-2-0), winners over Paradise Valley Thursday night, 2-0. In August at Ken Lindley Field, the Roughriders beat the Matadors 2-1. Saturday’s match will begin at 4:00 PM.
