Lady Cagers Drop Second Consecutive

The Lady Rider basketball team dropped their second consecutive game Saturday night in Tucson against #3 Pima Community College, 75-62. YC is 16-8 overall and 8-8 in ACCAC action. The Aztecs improve to 19-5 overall and 13-3 in conference play.

Yavapai could not overcome a dismal 30% first half shooting. YC ended the game shoot 36% from the field and a lowly 25% from the three-point line. “We are having a hard time overcoming adversity right now”, said head coach Brad Clifford. “We need to re-focus our attention to the task at hand and re-group as a team”.

Kayla Williams led the Riders with 11 points. Lyndsie Crump came off the bench and hit for 10 points including two from behind the arc. Antoinette Miller added 8 points and 10 rebounds.

The lady hoopsters return to Walraven Gym on Wednesday, February 9th playing host to Glendale Community College. In their first meeting of the year, YC won 71-53. The game is the start of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) two-week Pink Zone cancer awareness games. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
