Men’s Hoops Opens With Win

The Yavapai College men’s basketball team began the ‘08-‘09 season with a 20-point victory in the Bill Fain Tip-off Classic over Tierra del Sol in the Storm Center tonight, 81-61.

The Roughriders shot 47% from the field and 44% from beyond the three-point arc. YC was stingy on defense allowing 35% shooting from the opponents. Adam Arciniega led the team in scoring with 26 points in his collegiate debut. Gilbert Morales had 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Matt Coakley chipped in 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists and Justin McCullough had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.

Saturday afternoon Yavapai will face Odessa College, TX. The Wranglers beat Glendale Community College earlier this afternoon. Tip-off will be at 4:00 PM in the Storm Center on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott
