In a crucial way, the Roughrider basketball team needed a win over Pima Community College tonight to keep pace with the ACCAC playoff contenders.

They got what they needed by beating the Aztecs 96-79. With five games remaining in the regular season, Yavapai finds themselves at 12-13 overall and 8-9 in the conference race.

YC got great production tonight from all parts of the floor. Brock Entner led the way with 24 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. The Roughrider’s leading scorer, Louis Barraza, finished with 23 points and 9 assists. Brandon Gentry had 19 points and 5 assists and Javon Jones chipped in 14 points and 4 rebounds.

Yavapai travels to South Mountain Community College on Saturday to play the NJCAA DII #11 ranked Cougars. In the first contest earlier this year, SMCC beat the Riders in the Storm Center, 71-54. The matinee will begin at 4:00 PM on the campus of South Mountain CC.
