Erika Bennett Joins Roughrider Softball Coaching Staff
The Roughrider softball team has announced the hiring of Erika Bennett as the pitching coach/recruiting coordinator. Bennett replaces former pitching coach, Jennifer Stalter.
Bennett is no stranger to Roughrider softball. In 2010, Bennett pitched for the National Champion Miami -Dade Community College. Bennett beat the Roughriders, 11-1 in the 2010 NJCAA National Tournament winner’s bracket and went on to be named the NJCAA Tournament MVP with a 4-0 record and a 0.54 earned-run average, striking out 32 batters in 26 innings.
Following Miami Dade, Bennett pitched for the Thundering Herd of Marshall University where she recorded six wins while appearing primarily as a relief pitcher. During her senior season, Bennett finished with a 2.26 ERA and a 4-1 record. She ended her career with a 3.21 ERA and 86 strikeouts, while holding batters to a .241 average.
Bennett is a standing member of the Mexican National Softball team pitching for the national squad in international action.
Bennett has had coaching stints at Lake Erie College, Dodge City Community College, Florida Gulf Coast University most recently at the University of Texas at El Paso.

The Hereford, AZ native will begin her duties on July 23, 2018.
