Head Roughrider baseball coach, Ryan Cougill, has been selected to the coaching staff for the USA Junior College National Baseball Team. Historically, coaches that have recently won a National Championship and/or consistently gone to the NJCAA World Series have been asked to serve on the staff.

The NJCAA National Baseball team returns to the National Baseball Congress World Series this summer for the 84th annual event in Wichita, Kansas on August 1-11.

The National team, which will be comprised of 26 players and 5 staff members, will look to improve upon their fourth-place finish in 2016 as the Most Outstanding Offensive Team.

NJCAA Coaches Association President Joe Bauth, Erie (NY), will serve as the head of the delegation traveling to Wichita. The staff for this year’s team is:

Head Coach Doug Wren, Tyler Junior College, Texas
Asst. Coach Ryan Cougill- Yavapai College, Arizona
Asst. Coach Sam Temple- Hinds Community College, Mississippi
Athletic trainer/Asst. Administrator – Eddy McGuire, Tyler Junior College, Texas

The National team players and staff will assemble at Tyler Junior College on July 25-26. The players and coaches will prepare on site at Tyler until August 1 and then will travel to Wichita.
