Baseball Starts Season 2-0 While Blasting 31 Runs

The Roughrider baseball team erupted for 31 runs on the first day of the Southern Nevada Border Classic to begin the 2018 season.

In the opener, YC beat Colorado Northwestern Community College, 11-2. YC scored 7 runs in the second inning fueled by a home run from Alex Isola and a grand slam from Carlos Viera. Isola and Gianni Torres each had two hits an Over Torres hit a home run.

Tommy Costello got the victory throwing 4 innings striking out 10 batters. Jared Tippit threw two innings with two strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Green and Gold only had seven hits but took advantage of 22 base on balls. Carlos Viera hit his second home run of the day and Tomasi and Cody Holtz each had two hits.

RJ Martinez earned the victory from the mound throwing 3 innings striking out 5.

YC faces New Mexico Junior College and College of Southern Nevada on the final day of the Border Classic.
