Yavapai Beats Snow 5-1 to Advance To District Championship Game
The Yavapai College soccer team qualified for their 21st NJCAA National Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Snow College Friday afternoon in the NJCAA West District Tournament at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott. The Roughriders are now 20-2-3 on the year marking the 21st time that YC has won 20 games in a season. Yavapai will now play Pima Community College, winners over Otero Junior College, 2-1 in overtime, earlier in the day, for the West District Championship on Saturday, November 4th. The victory assures the Roughriders of at least 3 more matches: District Championship, two pool play games in the National Tournament.

For the season, Yavapai has 125 goals, the second most in Roughrider history. The program and national record for most goals in a season is 134 set by the 1993 Roughriders.
For the fourth time this season, the Green and Gold will face the Aztecs. In two games during the regular season both games ended in a tie. Last Saturday in the Region Championship match, YC beat Pima 2-1. The Roughriders will be seeking their 77th championship in the storied program’s history, which includes conference, region, district and national titles. Since both teams have already qualified for the National Tournament, tomorrow’s match will also be for seeding for the tournament that will be held in Prescott Valley on November 13-18. Saturday’s championship match will begin at 3:00 PM at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott.
