Baseball Returns Home from Glendale with 1 Win & 1 Loss
The Roughrider baseball team split a doubleheader in Glendale Tuesday afternoon with Glendale Community College. YC won the opener 7-2 and dropped the nightcap, 9-3. YC is now 24-18 overall and 10-12 in ACCAC action. Glendale has a 24-16 mark on the year and 11-15 in the league standings.
YC opened up an early lead that led to the lopsided victory. The Roughrider offense managed 12 hits, 5 of them being for extra bases. Caden Goldby and Jaxxon Fagg slammed home runs for the Riders. Jeddediah Fagg, Dylan Enwiller and RJ Cordeiro each had two hits.
Reza Aleaziz got the complete game victory scattering five hits and striking out 4.
In the second game, YC continued the scoring with two runs in the first inning on a two-run home run from Dylan Enwiller. Glendale countered with two runs in their half of the opening frame and 6 unanswered runs over the next four innings. YC attempted a comeback in the sixth inning posting a single run and Glendale finished off the scoring with a lone run in their half of the seventh.
Jonathan Villa paced the Rider offense with 2 hits. Enwiller was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.
Yavapai plays host to Division II #5 ranked Mesa Community College on Saturday, April 8th. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM at Roughrider Park on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
