Yavapai Loses In Final Frame
CSI scores 4 in the ninth for the victory
In the rubber game of a three-game series, Roughrider baseball dominated the nine-inning affair against the College of Southern Idaho until the finishing frame. In their final at bats, four CSI runners crossed the plate to close out the game with a 6-5 victory over Yavapai. Sky Smeltzer’s group is now 5-4-1.
Merrill Kelly (0-0) had a great day from the hill pitching 8 innings, surrendering two runs on three hits and striking out six. Kole Calhoun (0-2) allowed the winning runs to cross the dish to pick up the loss.
Yavapai plays host to Gateway Community College on Saturday, February 16th to begin the conference season. In two meetings last season, both teams came away with a victory. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM from Roughrider Park on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
