Women’s Basketball Coaches

Brad Clifford – Head Coach

The 2003-04 and 2006-07 WBCA Region 7 Coach of the Year, former Roughrider Brad Clifford enters his 14th year at the helm of the Lady Riders. During the 2006-07 season he became the all-time leader in victories for women’s basketball at Yavapai College. On July 1, 1996 Clifford became the seventh head coach in the program’s 29 year history. His overall record in 13 years at Yavapai College is 303-130 (.699).

With the success the Lady Riders have achieved on the basketball floor under Clifford’s tutelage, he is most proud of the fact the all of his teams have finished in the top 15 nationally for team GPA’s. Clifford has graduated over 90% of his former athletes.

A former Roughrider, Clifford played basketball for YC in 1986-87 under then Head Coach Willie Bean. Clifford began his coaching career in 1987-88 becoming the assistant women’s coach at YC in 1987. Brad served as assistant coach under Kevin Becker for 7 years and assistant coach in the men’s program under Dolph Carroll for 4 years before assuming the head duties of the women’s program in 1996.

“I have had the opportunity to go and do other things,” Clifford said, “but Yavapai College is where I most want to be.” Clifford is a graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Recreation Management. Clifford and his wife Mindy have four children: Dallas (15), Annie (12), Randee (11) and McKell (7).

Regina Schlichter – Assistant Coach

Regina Schlichter joined the Lady Rider staff in August 2005 as an assistant coach. She shares responsibilities related to all aspects of the program, with her primary duties concentrated on recruiting, working with the post players, academics, strength and conditioning.

Schlichter comes to Yavapai from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. While there she played for 4 years at the NCAA Division I University. Schlichter was a co-captain in the 2004-2005 season and helped guide her team to 4 straight trips to the NCAA tournament.

She played in all but 3 games, in the post, during her 4 year career at St. Francis. She also helped lead her team to a career record of 88 – 36 (.710).

Schlichter ended her career at St. Francis with over 650 points and 400 rebounds
