YC Volleyball 2008 Season Preview

3 times in a year

The Roughriders goal this year is to play either Arizona Western or Eastern Arizona 3 times this year. Playing a third time would mean Yavapai College would be taking the next step towards qualifying for the NJCAA National Tournament. Only once has the Roughrider volleyball program played in that match, losing to AWC two years ago. Coach Cohen believes his student-athletes and staff are committed to “play a third time” and exemplify Yavapai College’s tremendous athletic tradition.

YC Women's Volleyball Announces 2008 Schedule

Roughriders will compete in two of the nation’s top NJCAA tournaments.

The YC women’s volleyball team has announced its 2008 schedule, which features two matches against cross town rival Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and three trips out of state to compete against some of the perennial junior college powers.

The season kicks off August 22nd in Roswell, NM at the 2008 New Mexico Military Institute Classic. The Roughriders will open with Pratt College, a Division 2 team from Kansas. Next they will play against the host team, NMMI. The Roughriders...

Strumer and Eiler receives conference and region honors

The Lady Rider volleyball team concluded their season this past weekend with losses at Pima Community College and Glendale Community College. YC concludes the season 12-20 overall and 6-12 in conference action.

On Friday in Tucson, the lady spikers continued their struggles on the road losing to Pima Community College in 4 games. Yavapai started the match slow losing the first game 18-30. The girls played better the next two games, losing the second 25-30 then winning the third 3...
