Softball Staff Gains National Honor

The Roughrider softball coaching staff of head coach Stacy Iveson and assistant coaches Lisa Parks, J.R. Barringer and Miriam Romero has been named the NJCAA Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
In only her second season at the helm of the Roughriders, Iveson and her staff recorded the school’s first-ever national softball championship. Yavapai was also selected as the West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. More information can...

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced their 2009 Junior College All-American Teams. The Roughriders were well represented placing five players on the squad. Being named to the first team was Jenna Rodriguez, pitcher; Brittany Tucker, catcher; Kacie Smith, infield; and Caitlin Stangl, outfield. Pitcher Audrey Workman was named to the second team. Tucker Earns National Award

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 2009 Junior College Diamond Catcher of the Year this past week with YC catcher Brittany Tucker earning the national award. The Tucson native led the Roughriders to the 2009 NJCAA Division I Championship last month. Tucker hit .401 on the season with 51 runs scored and 77 RBI’s. She had 12 doubles, two triples and 20 home runs on the year and will take her services to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi next season.
