Yavapai Roughrider Basketball Program Facts

The Roughrider Basketball Program is one filled with rich tradition. There is more to this program than teaching the game of basketball. We like to prepare our students-athletes for life during and after basketball. The Roughriders compete annually against 301 Division I Junior Colleges throughout the country. Our annual goal is to win a National Championship. The conference in which the Roughriders compete consists of 11 other Community Colleges. The ACCAC is one of the finest and most competitive in the country!

Since 1971 the Roughriders have built a program of success on and off the floor. We want our student-athletes to be prepared for what is in store after their 2 years at Yavapai College.

  • 70.3 winning percentage
  • 105 players have gone on to Division I schools
  • 85 players have gone on to Division II schools
  • Countless others have competed at the Division III and NAIA levels
  • 9 All-Americans
  • 5 Academic All-Americans
  • 93 All ACCAC/ All-Region players
  • 5 players drafted by the NBA
  • 35 players have played overseas
  • 9 players currently play overseas
  • 33 Region I play-off appearances
  • 2 Sweet 16 appearances in Hutchinson, KS
  • In the past 2 seasons, over 75 Division I schools were on the Yavapai College campus to evaluate our players
