The Roughrider baseball season came to an abrupt halt on Friday afternoon with an 8-6 loss to Central Arizona College in the NJCAA Region I Division I Championship Series. CAC swept the best two of three series to advance to the West District Finals. Yavapai concludes the year with a 41-16-1 overall record.
The YC offense was stymied in both games by the Vaquero pitching as they managed only 8 runs in two days. Sophomore Kole Calhoun led the charge on Friday going 3 for 4 with one home run, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Freshman Dominic Piazza was also 3 for 4 with an RBI and one run scored. Zac Castleberry was 2 for 4 with two RBI’s and Randen Abafo was 2 for 4 with a sole home run in the second inning. Kirby Yates (7-5) took the loss in four innings of work.
