Summer Camps

Yavapai College is proud to offer the boys and girls of the community the chance to participate in meaningful and fun athletic activities over the summer months. Please scroll down this page and find something that’s right for someone you know.



Free Soccer Clinic – Friday, August 8, 2014 (Prescott Valley)

Members of the 2014 Yavapai Soccer Team will be conducting a free soccer clinic at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley on Friday, August 8. The clinic will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Boys and girls ages 5-16 are eligible to participate. No registration is required. If possible, participants should bring their own soccer ball.

In addition, a coaches clinic will take place in conjunction with the players clinic. All participants will receive a special souvenir gift. Come meet the 2014 Soccer Team Members prior to their season opener!

The clinic will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Boys and girls ages 5-16 are eligible to participate. No registration is required. If possible, participants should bring their own soccer ball.

In addition, a coaches clinic will take place in conjunction with the players clinic. All participants will receive a special souvenir gift. Come meet the 2014 Soccer Team Members prior to their season opener!

Roughrider Soccer Training Available!

Private goalkeeping training, training for field players and team practice training are available with Yavapai College volunteer assistant soccer coach Emilio Estrada. Estrada, a United States Soccer Federation “A” Licensed Coach and former MLS goalkeeper coach, will begin his third season with the Yavapai College Roughrider soccer program this fall. In addition, long-time YC Associate Coach Hugh Bell is available to assist from a coaching perspective. May 11, 2014 Tryout Camp – Prescott

The annual Tryout Camps purpose is to promote exposure to Yavapai College as well as all other ACCAC baseball programs. Each Junior College from the state of Arizona will be invited to recruit and evaluate talent. The tryout camp is also geared toward Sophomores and Juniors wishing to get a head start on the recruiting process. Yavapai College currently has players on its roster from this camp.

June 2-5, 2014 Baseball Day Camp – Prescott

You will learn skills from a new perspective with a fresh, dynamic approach to teaching baseball. You will receive quality instruction in baseball skill and technical work, tactics, strategy, and games.

You will be placed in a group matching age and ability to maximize your learning experience. Instructors will closely monitor your individual needs and develop your skills and initiative so that you may personally grow from this total learning experience.

Fee: $75

July 20-23, 2014 Baseball Overnight Camp

You will learn skills from a new perspective with a fresh, dynamic approach to teaching baseball. You will receive quality instruction in baseball skill and technical work, tactics, strategy, and games.

You will be placed in a group matching age and ability to maximize your learning experience. Instructors will closely monitor your individual needs and develop your skills and initiative so that you may personally grow from this total learning experience.

Fee: $175 / $400 (commuter and overnight rates)

Thankgiving Pitchers Camp – 2014 Dates TBA

The Mile High Baseball School Thanksgiving Pitching Camp will include instruction on; arm care, throwing progression, long toss, bull-pen work, mechanics, drills, and film breakdown. Specialty areas will include pitcher specific strength, conditioning, and mental skills. The camp is for players between the ages of 12 and 18 , Camp capacity is limited to the first 20 campers to sign up.

Volleyball Camps

You will learn skills from a new perspective with a fresh, dynamic approach to teaching volleyball. You will receive up to date information and instruction in mechanics, skills, and teamwork.

You will be placed in a group matching age and ability to maximize your learning experience. Instructors will closely monitor your individual needs and develop your skills and initiative so that you may personally grow from this total learning experience.

Youth Camp – June 9-12

Grades 1- 8; June 9th – 12th 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

You will learn the basics of volleyball including; passing, serving, attacking, digging, and blocking. Also team offensive and defensive strategies. Lunch is included.

Fee: $175

All Skills Camp – June 12-14

Grades 6— 12. Will learn both basic skills and more advanced skills of volleyball including; individual defense, jump serving, being deceptive on offense, floor skills, and how to be a team player.

Team Camp – July 31-Aug 2

H.S. Freshman, JV, and Varsity. A chance to bond with your high school team before season begins! Learn offensive and defensive strategies while improving overall skills as a unit.

Basketball Camp – June 16-19, 2014

The Yavapai College Roughrider Basketball Camp is limited to ages 5-12. The camp is directed by Former YC Head Coach Brad Clifford. Registration fee for the camp is $75 per person. The fee includes professional instruction, evaluation, medical and dental insurance, t-shirts and other sport-related items. 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
