Softball Coaches

Terri Knecht – Head Coach

Terri Knecht

Knecht, the St. Joseph, Missouri native, brings over 17 years experience as a head coach at the collegiate level where she has an overall coaching record of 597-324-2.

Knecht began her coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina followed by a four year stint at Indiana University where she coached USA Olympic Softball Player, Michelle Venturella and helped guide the Hoosiers to the Big Ten Championship in 1994.

From 1995-2002, Knecht was the head coach at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL where she compiled an overall record of 295-180-2.

Prior to accepting the position at Yavapai, Knecht was the head coach at NAIA affiliate Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where she led the Bees to the Florida Sun Conference and Region XIV Championship in 2005, 2006 and 2007. During her time in Georgia, she was named conference and region Coach of the Year three times. At the conclusion of the 2011- 2012 academic year, SCAD discontinued their softball, baseball and volleyball programs due to budget constraints.

J. R. Barringer – Assistant Coach

J. R. Barringer returns for a fourth season to the Yavapai College Softball Coaching staff as the outfield coach and batting practice pitcher. He began playing men’s fast pitch softball at age 17 and has been managing his team for the past 12 years. J. R. has coached girls’ softball at the high school and ASA club levels for several years and has also coached little league baseball.

J. R. was born and raised in Prescott. He retired from the Central Yavapai Fire District in 2005. J. R. and his wife, Debbie, have 4 children and reside in Dewey, AZ.

Caylee Price – Student Manager

Caylee Price graduated from Red Mountain High school in Mesa, Arizona in 2011. Following her prep year, she moved onto her schooling career at Yavapai where she hopes to obtain a nursing degree. In addition to her studies, she has become the manager for the Yavapai Roughrider softball team, helping the team in all facets of the program.
