Yavapai College Soccer
The main campus of Yavapai College is located in Prescott, Arizona, an evolving metropolitan city. Prescott is known as “everybody’s hometown.” The town is visited by people from all over the world. They enjoy the unique setting, old west history, enjoyable climate and the historical character of downtown.
The main campus contains many new, renovated and modernized buildings. This includes the Library, Performing Arts Center, Computer Labs, Classroom and Administrative Offices, Athletic Facilities, Residence Halls, Dining Services and beautiful landscaping. All designed to meet the needs of Yavapai College in the 21st century.

The college has two residence halls on the Prescott campus with 24 spots reserved for soccer players. Soccer players live in two suites with each unit have a private bath area, free cable television, high-speed internet hook-up and voicemail. Free laundry facilities are available. Soccer players check into the residence halls in conjunction with pre-season training approximately 14 days prior to the first day of fall semester classes.

- Note: On road trips, all meals will be covered by the soccer program.
Roughrider dollars are used to purchase pre-packaged items, extra portions and meals for friends/guests. Roughrider Dollars operate on a declining balance over the course of the semester and do not roll over the following semester nor are they refundable.
We warmly invite interested recruits to visit our campus, meet with our faculty, soccer support staff and soccer players. The soccer support staff includes academic advisor, head athletic trainer, team physician, team dentist, strength and conditioning coach. The soccer office is located in Building 2, Room 125 on the Prescott campus.

Local & National Media
Roughrider soccer is a top priority with the local media. Team members are called on regularly for interviews and talk show appearances. National attention is brought to the program due in part to the Roughriders being ranked in every weekly national poll since 1990, including number one in the country 75 times.
Community Events & Local Support
Prescott, Prescott Valley and the surrounding area enjoy the contributions which the Yavapai College Soccer Team provides the community. This includes, but not limited to, soccer clinics, coaching clinics, assisting with youth soccer tournaments and public service projects. In return, the soccer program is enthusiastically supported by the Yavapai County community. The Roughriders lead the country in JUCO home game attendance each year.
Sports Medical & Conditioning Staff
The sports medical staff, which includes a full-time certified athletic trainer and assistant, works closely with local sports medicine physicians. Thanks to many of the amenities of a large univeristy training room, Yavapai soccer players receive appropriate care from the staff experienced in dealing with professional, olympic, and national championship athletes.
Thanks to the great Arizona weather, training and conditioning go on during the season and off-season. High altitude training is on tap since Prescott is a mile-high city. Our Strength and Conditioning Coach will specialized a program for each player.
Academic Support Services
The Academic Advisor for the soccer players is very knowledgeable with NCAA and NAIA transfer rules and directs the players in the course selection process. Soccer players are required to take 16 credits per semester and pursue a degree. Regular grade checks and study halls are held throughout each semester. Free tutoring services on a “drop-in” basis or regular schedule appointments are available.
Application for Admissions: Complete on-line application for admissions (www.yc.edu, click become a student, apply for admissions). Establish residency by scanning your driver’s license or state issued identification card to firstname.lastname@example.org or photo copy and send to the soccer office. International candidates should contact Associate Coach Hugh Bell for additional entry requirements.
Placement Test: All freshmen must take a placement test in Math, English and Reading. You can come to Yavapai College to take the test, or at your local college. Make sure the test is COMPASS or ACCUPLACER. Fax results directly to the soccer office at 928-776-2243. Please note if you have taken the ACT or SAT and scored 17 or 400 in reading, 18 or 420 in writing and 22 or 530 in math you may be able to substitute these scores for the specific placement test. To make sure, send your ACT or SAT results to the soccer office or academic advisor.
Financial Aid: Complete 2014-2015 FAFSA information to see if you qualify for federal student aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov) Yavapai College Federal School Code number is 001079. In addition, go to your YC Portal and follow up with the Yavapai College Financial Aid Office (928-776-2126) to complete the “in-house” portion of the application.
Additional Eligibility Items: At a later date, the soccer coaches will send you on-campus housing application, transcript requirements, class registration information and physical examination/medical forms.
Attending Yavapai College and representing the college by playing on the soccer team is an integral part of the total college experience. We expect student-athletes to play top-level soccer, excell in the classroom and be a participating member of the community. This to be used as a means to continue your education at a four-year university.
