When the 2013 volleyball season officially begins on August 23rd it will mark the 42nd season for the Yavapai College volleyball team. The 2012 team finished with an outstanding record of 29-7 narrowly missing out on the playoffs due to a four way tie breaker.

Shaver To Head Volleyball Program...

The Yavapai College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Zachary Shaver to be the head volleyball coach.

Shaver has extensive collegiate coaching experience, his most recent job being the head volleyball coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an NCAA Division II institution.

Cohen Steps Down...

Roughrider volleyball coach Matt Cohen has tendered his resignation in order to accept the position of head volleyball coach at St. Johns River State College in Palatka, FL effective immediately.

Roughrider volleyball player Kenzie Shippy has been named to the All-USA Academic 2nd Team. With the honor the sophomore from Colorado will receive tuition to a state university and a cash award.

Former Spiker Garners Award...

Former Yavapai College and current University of West Florida volleyball player, Haley Shackelford was named Gulf South Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts this past week. In addition, the Colorado native earned all-league honors being named to the 2nd Team All-GSC.

As voted by the ACCAC coaches Sunday, sophomore volleyball player LeAnna Lloyd and freshman Lauren Bevan were named to the ACCAC All-Conference Teams. Lloyd was named to the 2nd Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team NJCAA All-Region I. Bevan was voted to the 3rd Team All-ACCAC.

The Roughrider volleyball team dropped their final match of the 2011 season 3-2 (25-22, 13-25, 25-22, 16-25, 12-15) to the visiting Matadors from Arizona Western College (11-8, 10-6).
