Rider Nine Splits With Apaches

The Roughriders baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday afternoon with the visiting Apaches from Cochise College, 7-1 and 11-14. Yavapai is 22-19 on the year and 11-15 in ACCAC play. Cochise is now 23-19 overall and 12-14 in conference action.

Chance Adams picked up his fourth victory on the year giving up a lone run while striking out three.

Offensively, JC Pena was 3 for 4 and John King was a perfect 2 for 2 with 2 runs batted in.

In the nightcap, Cochise jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. YC battled back to within one but the Apaches put had a 5 run seventh inning to secure the victory.

Alexis Cruz was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and one run batted in. Luke Doyle and Austin Orth each homered.

YC travels to Yuma on Tuesday to play Arizona Western College. YC swept a doubleheader from the Matadors in February 7-1 and 7-1. The doubleheader begins at 12:00 PM.
