Riders Win Big

The Roughrider baseball team hit their way to two victories Wednesday at Roughrider Park to improve their overall record to 15-11. YC beat Douglas College, Canada 12-2 in the opener and pounded Williston State College, ND 19-1 in the nightcap.

The Roughrider offense used 19 hits to propel the lopsided victories led by Andrew Hermanson who went 8 for 11 on the day. Austin Paschke hit his third home run in two days and YC combined for 11 extra base hits.

Stephen Carabajal (3-1) got the victory in the first game allowing only 4 hits and striking out 9 opponent batters.

Brandon Matthews (1-0) got his first victory of the year throwing a two-hitter and striking out a personal best 12 hitters.

The Roughrider nine continue non-conference play on Friday, March 14th when it entertains the Golden Norsemen from Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College, the first meeting between these two teams. The single nine-inning game will begin at 2:00 PM at Roughrider Park.
