Roughriders Need Overtime To Edge Coyotes

The Roughrider soccer team defeated Chandler-Gilbert Community College, 2-1 in overtime on Monday afternoon in Prescott Valley. Yavapai improves to 3-0-0 on the season and Chandler-Gilbert falls to 1-3-0.

The win marked the 49th consecutive victory for the Roughriders at the Prescott Valley site and Yavapai’s 30th all-time win in overtime including the two overtime victories this season.

  • 99th minute – Ricardo Zacarias assisted by Matthew Paine

YC continues conference play on Thursday, September 5th hosting Paradise Valley Community College. The game will be the Prescott home opener for the Riders. The match will be played at longtime Prescott venue, Ken Lindley Field. The match will begin at 6:00 PM.

The night will also be Firefighter Appreciation Night honoring all firefighters both current and past. Yavapai College will be accepting donations for the Granite Mountain Hotshots Scholarship Fund for the children and spouses of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots team members who perished in the Yarnell Hill fire on June 30, 2013. All proceeds from the 50/50 raffle that night will go to the scholarship fund.
