Opening game ruled no contest; Venue change for Saturday

After a 90-minute delay due to lightning in Prescott Valley, Yavapai’s season, home and conference opener was ruled a “no contest” with the Roughriders leading Chandler-Gilbert CC 2-0 in the 64th minute.  College rules state that a match must go at least 70 of the 90 minutes of regulation for it be considered an official game.  As a result, the match will be re-played in its entirety on Monday, Sept. 2 at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley.  Special game time for this Labor Day contest is set for 2:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, tomorrow’s (Saturday, Aug. 24) Glendale Community College-Yavapai College soccer match originally scheduled for Ken Lindley Field in Prescott has been moved to Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley.  Game time remains at 6:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

The Roughriders enter their 25th of intercollegiate soccer with an overall record of 517-43-18 which includes 69 conference, region, district and national championships.
