Baseball Concludes Season

The 2013 Roughrider baseball season came to an end Saturday afternoon in Douglas with a 6-5 loss to Cochise College in the final game of the best-of-three NJCAA Region I Division Playoff Series. YC concludes the season with a 43-15 overall record. Cochise advances to the Region Championship Series playing host to South Mountain Community College.

The Roughriders held a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning only to surrender 3 runs and the lead to the host team. YC attempted to tie the game in the 8th but stranded a runner at third and left a runner at second in the ninth.

Offensively, the Roughriders outhit the Apaches 11-7 but failed to push the runners across. Tim Arakawa, Stephen Carbajal and Alexis Olmeda each had two hits.

Matt Southard took the loss in 5.1 innings pitched.
