Softball Falls To Matadors

The Roughrider softball team dropped their fifth straight game in a doubleheader loss at Arizona Western College Tuesday afternoon, 7-5 and 14-10. The loss drops the lady ballers to 6-9 overall and 2-6 in ACCAC action.

YC took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning only to give up 4 runs in the final three innings including the game winner in the bottom of the seventh.

Aundria Zuniga-Romero was the hard luck loser from the circle and Hannah Hill and Alexa Redman each had two hits. Redman had 2 runs batted in.

In the second game, YC held a slim 7-6 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning only to relinquish 8 runs in the opponent’s their half of the inning. YC managed to score three runs in the top of the 7th but left the bases loaded.

Sarah Thompson took the loss and Zuniga-Romero and Val Luera each had two hits.

Yavapai looks to snap the losing streak on Saturday at Paradise Valley Community College. The first pitch will be thrown at 1:00 PM.
