Soccer Shoots Down The Thunderbirds

The #2 nationally ranked Roughrider soccer team beat the visiting Thunderbirds from Mesa Community College Tuesday night at Ken Lindley Field, 4-1. The match was the 50th time that these two schools have met in Roughrider soccer history. Earlier in the season, YC earned their 500th all time win playing Mesa on their home field. Yavapai is now 14-1-0 overall and remain in first place with a 13-1-0 mark. Mesa falls to 4-10-0 on the season.

The Roughrider’s fourth goal of the night was the 2300th goal scored in Roughrider history (395 goals against in 569 all-time matches).

Yavapai will play their next three matches on the road before returning home on October 11th. On Thursday, October 4th, the Roughrider kickers will travel to the home of Yavapai’s 2008 National Championship, Rose Mofford Park. YC will play GateWay Community College, a team that they beat 11-2 earlier in the season. The match will begin at 6:00 PM.
