Team record set and Individual record tied

The Roughrider soccer team erupted for 17 goals breaking a team record for most goals scored in a match en route to a 17-0 victory over the Cougars from South Mountain Community College Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix. YC is now 17-1-0 overall and 16-1-0 in conference action. South Mountain falls to 0-16-0 on the year. All three Roughrider goalkeepers (Augustin Rey, Daniel Sellitti, Kieran Coleman-Fry) combined for the teams’s 12th shutout of the season.

Matthew Paine and Junior Albon Gbapou tied a school record for most assists in a game (4). The previous record was set by Kenny Fechner in 2001 and Pavel Panchenko in 2007. Additionally, four Roughriders got hat tricks on the night; Matthew Paine, Alex Harlley, Julien Dragomir and Jonathan Grant.

The Roughriders will play their final regular season match at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott on Thursday, October 11th when they host Paradise Valley Community College. On Saturday, October 13th, YC will play their final regular season game at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley hosting Pima Community College. Both matches will kick-off at 6:00 PM.
