On To Playoffs For Soccer

The Roughrider soccer team stumbled Thursday night in their regular season finale in Yuma to Arizona Western College, 3-2. YC concludes the regular season at 19-2-0 overall and 18-2-0 in the ACCAC, tying a school record for the most conference wins in a season, a record also held by the 2001 and 2008 teams. Before tonight’s match, Yavapai had already clinched its 23rd ACCAC title and secured home games throughout the NJCAA Region I Playoffs.

The Roughriders will play host to an opponent yet to be determined next Thursday, October 25th in the semi-finals of the NJCAA Region I Play-offs. The match will be played at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Region I Championship Match on Saturday, October 27th at the site of the highest remaining seed. The semi-final match will kick-off at 6:00 PM. Because it is an NJCAA event, there will be a $5 per person admission fee.

Note: The 2012 team falls 2 goals short of tying the record for most goals scored in the conference season (93), a record set by the Alan Gordon led 2001 Roughrider team.
