Not since 1989 has the Roughrider volleyball team began the season with a five-game winning streak. Tonight in Phoenix, YC continued their winning ways in their conference opener with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-14) blanking of the Cougars from South Mountain Community College. In the process, head coach Matt Cohen won his 100th (100-81) career victory.

Yavapai was led by Lauren Bevan with 10 kills. Natalie Fahey was solid with 8 kills, 4 blocks and 3 aces. The “playmaker” Libby Ary recorded 35 assists and Jordan Lopez had 12 digs and 2 aces.

Yavapai looks to knock of their third ranked team on the year as they travel to #17 Arizona Western College on Friday, August 31st. The Matadors (2-1, 2-1) lost to Central Arizona College last Saturday 2-3. Game time will be at 7:00 PM.
