Second Upset In Two Days

For the 2nd time in two days the Roughrider volleyball team upended a ranked team. On Saturday, YC beat Odessa College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-22) and upset the #14 ranked team in the nation Seward County Community College, 3-2 (21-25, 25-10, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13). Yavapai concludes the pre-season tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.

MacKenzie Hamilton led the lady spikers in the morning opener with 17 kills. The playmaker Libby Ary had 41 assists. Jen Sadler added 10 kills and 3 blocks.

Yavapai had a balanced attack in the upset with four players getting more than 10 kills led by Hannah Hill with 13. Ary had 30 assists and Rebecca Long had 20 assists. Jordan Lopez provided the defense with 28 digs.

Yavapai returns to the court on Tuesday, August 28th at South Mountain Community College. The first save will be at 7:00 PM.
