Baseball Routs The Gauchos

The Roughrider baseball team had an easy day with a 16-0 victory over Glendale Community College (4-6, 0-1) Friday afternoon in Glendale. YC is now 4-5 on the season and 1-0 in ACCAC action. With the win, head coach Sky Smeltzer is now six wins shy of his 600th career victory (594-299-4).

Yavapai scored in the first inning and was never challenged in the shortened 10-run rule game. The Roughriders had nineteen hits, six of them for extra bases with Austin O`Such leaving the yard. Matt Smith pitched the complete game for his second win of the year (2-1).

Yavapai has their home opener on Saturday against these same Gauchos. The first pitch will be at 12:00 PM at Roughrider Park.
