Sophomore softball player Estela Pinon has signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Arizona in 2013. Pinon reunites with former Roughrider head coach and current Wildcat assistant coach Stacy Iveson

The Tucson native received a multitude of awards after her freshman season. During the regular season, Pinon was named to the ACCAC First Team. For her efforts in the NJCAA National Tournament she was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher and the Most Valuable Player. Additionally, the pitcher/designated hitter was named NJCAA Second Team All-American and First Team NFCA All-American.

Head Coach Lisa Parks commented, “It is one of her dream schools being a Tucson native. She is excited to be a Wildcat and return to play for Stacy.”

Pinon and the rest of the Roughriders will begin the 2012 season January 27-29, 2012 in Las Vegas at the Kick-off Classic.
