VB Winless In Idaho

The Roughrider volleyball team lost a pair of matches Friday at the Starr Corporation Invite hosted by the College of Southern Idaho. In their first match of the day, Yavapai fell to #12 Barton Community College (9-1), KS, 3-0 (22-25, 24-26, 22-25). In their second contest, the lady spikers fell to #7 ranked Salt Lake City Community College (11-3), 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 16-25).

On the day, the reigning ACCAC Player of the Week Leanna Lloyd had 15 kills, Suzanne Morris had 13 kills and Erin Gaal had 9 kills. Jessica Durbin recorded 42 assists. Cohen said of his team’s play, “Pleased with the way we competed with two of the top teams in the country.”

In the second and final day of the tournament on Saturday, Yavapai fell to the host team #9 College of Southern Idaho, 3-0 (20-25, 17-25, 22-25) and lost to #20 North Idaho College 3-0 (18-25, 11-25, 13-25). YC is now 5-7 on the season.

Lauren Bevan had 10 kills against Southern Idaho and MacKenzie Hamilton killed 7. Libby Ary had 24 assists and Jordan Lopez recorded 12 digs. No stats were available from the North Idaho match.

Yavapai returns to conference action on Wednesday, September 21st at Mesa Community College. The first serve will be at 7:00 PM.
