The top ranked Roughrider softball team advances to the NJCAA National Championship Game with a victory over #2 Salt Lake City Community College Friday night, 6-1. Salt Lake City drops to the loser’s bracket and plays Saturday against the winner of the Blinn College/Tallahassee Community College game played at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Yavapai put runs on the board every inning through the first three frames. Amelia Willadsen was stellar allowing 1 run in five innings pitched. Estela Pinon threw the final two innings to finish the game. In four games, YC has outscored their opponents, 19-3.

Yavapai will be going for their second NJCAA national crown in four years. The title game will start at 1:00 p.m. Arizona time. If YC drops that game, a second championship game will be played immediately following the conclusion of the first contest.
