The top ranked Roughrider softball team clinched a home playoff spot with a doubleheader sweep of Arizona Western College Saturday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field, 17-4 and 6-2. In their final home games of the 2011 season, the Roughrider baseball team split a conference doubleheader with Eastern Arizona College (17-27, 9-22) Saturday afternoon at Roughrider Park. YC won the first game 10-7 and dropped the nightcap 9-8. Yavapai is now 32-20 overall and 20-14 in the ACCAC.

The top ranked Roughrider softball team extended their consecutive win streak to 34 games with a doubleheader sweep over South Mountain Community College Tuesday afternoon, 5-3 and 11-3. The streak is the longest in Roughrider softball history. In 2009, YC had a 30-game streak. Yavapai is now 51-2

Sophomore catcher Kirsten Lambertson has signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent with Cal State Fullerton. This season Lambertson is hitting .352 with 13 home runs and 46 RBI’s. As a freshman, the California native hit .352 with 2 home runs and 32 runs knocked in.

Vocca POW; ACCAC Standings...

For his efforts on Saturday, sophomore Tony Vocca was named the Co-ACCAC Division 1 Pitcher of the Week. Vocca (8-3), threw a complete game shutout victory over #5Gateway Community College. The Cottonwood native allowed only two hits and struck out 8 batters.

For the fourth time this season, freshman Amelia Willadsen (26-1) was named the ACCAC Division 1 Pitcher of the Week. During the week, the Mesa native was 3-0 from the mound surrendering only one earned run while striking out fourteen batters.

The Roughrider baseball team hit a rough patch these last two weeks losing seven of their last eight contests. Saturday afternoon, YC righted the ship with a doubleheader sweep of DII #5 ranked GateWay Community College (29-16, 17-10), 5-0 and 10-6. Yavapai is now 30-18 overall and 18-12.

2011 Roughrider Soccer Schedule Released...

The 2011 Yavapai College soccer schedule has been released. Six home matches at Ken Lindley Field along with six home matches at the Prescott Valley Amphitheater are featured on this season’s calendar. The Roughriders are 199-8-1 all-time at Ken Lindley Field and 33-0-0 all-time in Prescott Valley.
