The Lady Rider basketball team moved closer to their 25th straight trip to the NJCAA Division I Region I Playoff spot with 69-57 victory over Phoenix College Saturday in Phoenix. Yavapai is now 19-9 overall and 11-9 in ACCAC action. Phoenix falls to 14-14 overall and 7-13 in the conference standings.

Yavapai muddled through the first half shooting an abysmal 39% from the field and turning the ball over 16 times and went into intermission with a 30-29 deficit. YC found their groove in the second half in likes of Kayla Williams. The Seattle native scored 18 of her team high 28 points on 7 for 12 shooting in the final twenty minutes. Bernadette Sanchez added 10 points and 8 assists for the lady hoopsters. As a team, YC outrebounded the Bears 57-46 led by Antoinette Miller with 12 rebounds and Veronica Celaya grabbing 10 caroms.

On Tuesday, February 22nd, Yavapai looks to avenge an early season loss to #19 Central Arizona College. Yavapai tangles with the Vaqueros in the final road game of the regular season. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
