Lady Cagers Beat Gauchos

The Lady Rider women’s basketball team bounced back from their Wednesday night home loss to beat Glendale Community College (4-4, 3-3) Saturday afternoon in Glendale, 71-53. Yavapai improves to 7-3 overall and evens their conference record at 3-3.

Despite shooting 39% from the field, YC led at halftime, 30-18. The lady hoopsters extended that lead after intermission behind Ashley Watkins 12 second half points. Kayla Williams scored 14 points in the first half and finished the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Watkins finished with 17 points. Antoinette Miller scored 10 points. Bernadette Sanchez added 8 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. As a team, Yavapai had 20 steals.

The Roughriders will return to action on Monday, December 13th at Southwestern College (5-2) in Chula Vista, California. YC owns a 2-0 record against the Jaguars. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
