After an extensive two- month nationwide search, Yavapai College has selected its next head coach for Men’s Basketball, Eric Fundalewicz. Fundalewicz takes over the helm of the Roughriders after serving as the assistant coach at Yavapai College for three years.

Former Roughrider Irving Garcia, picked by New York in the fourth round of the MLS Super Draft, has signed with the New York Red Bulls (MLS). He helped UC- Irvine win two-straight Big West Conference titles and led the league in points and assists, earning the Big West Offensive Player of the year.
Former Roughrider baseball player Merrill Kelly (2007-09) has been named Arizona State University’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 27th. Kelly helped the #1 ranked Sun Devils continue their 20 game winning streak (20-0), 1 game shy of tying the 1961 team that started the season
The Roughrider softball team swept the ACCAC awards this past week as Molly Brossart and Audrey Workman were named ACCAC Division I Batter and Pitcher of the week respectively. Both players led the Yavapai to a 5-1 record last week. YC is currently 33-8 overall and 12-2 in league play.

For his efforts last week, freshman Casey Upperman earned the ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week Award. In a 7-0 shutout victory over Cochise College, Upperman struck out 11 opponent batters while surrendering 2 walks and 9 hits. The Scottsdale native is 2-1 on the season with one save, 31 strikeouts
