The Lady Rider basketball team came from behind to beat second place Arizona Western College (12-6, 8-3) Saturday night in the Storm Center, 54-50. Yavapai improves to 11-8 overall and 9-3 in the ACCAC.

With 2:10 remaining in the game, Dee Adsitt hit a free throw to put the Roughriders ahead, 51-50. Arizona Western had a chance to take the lead but their shot rimmed off. With 24 seconds to go, Adsitt stole an errant opponent pass and converted the layup to put YC up by three. AWC had a three-point shot with 10 seconds to go but Kiki January tipped the ball and Kira DeMorales secured the rebound and knocked in a free throw to give the lady hoopsters the victory.

Adsitt led the way with 22 points including 2 three-pointers. Lerrin Cook chipped in 10 points. YC shot a dismal 55% (16/29) from the free throw line.

Yavapai will be on the road for their next conference game. On Wednesday, January 27th YC will be at Phoenix College (4-12, 2-9). In their prior meeting of the year, the Lady Riders beat the Bears 79-61. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
