A Tale Of Two Halves

The Lady Rider basketball team has been a great second-half team all season…except for today. The lady hoopsters fell to #15 ranked Monroe College (10-5), NY after leading most of the first half in the final game of the Wells Fargo Classic in Yuma Tuesday afternoon, 82-49. YC falls to 7-6 on the year.

The Lady Riders went into halftime down 37-32 behind 40% shooting and stellar defense. However, in the second half, Yavapai shot a dismal 19% from the field and committed 13 turnovers while the opponent shot 54% from the field including 4 of 8 from the three-point line.

Kira DeMorales led the team will 13 points and 4 steals. Julianne Forte` and DeAndra Adsitt added 12 points a piece.

Yavapai resumes conference play on Wednesday, January 6th at Cochise College (5-9, 3-3). In two meetings last season, the Roughriders won both games 68-37 and 70-46. The game will tip-off at 5:30 PM. YC returns home on Saturday, January 9th to host Eastern Arizona College.
