Turnovers Doom Roughriders...

For the second straight game, the Roughrider men’s basketball team committed 20 turnovers to contribute to a 112-80 loss to Westwind Preparatory in Phoenix Tuesday afternoon. Yavapai falls to 2-9 overall.

Tibbetts Named All-American...

Yavapai College Soccer Player Gene Tibbetts has been named to the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association Men’s Divsion One Junior College All-America First Team. The sophomore defender from Anchorage, Alaska becomes the 47th Roughrider named to the All-America team in their 21-year history.

Roughriders Fall To Wolfpack...

The Roughrider men’s basketball team was rusty after a 17-day layoff Monday afternoon losing to non-conference opponent Madison Area Technical College, 83-73 in Phoenix. Yavapai falls to 2-8 on the season and Madison Area improves to 7-3.

DeMorales Garners Player of Week Honor...

Sophomore basketball player Kira DeMorales received ACCAC Division I Player of the Week honors for her efforts this past week in two YC victories. In a 66-54 win over South Mountain Community College, the Hilo, Hawaii native scored 18 points, grabbed 4 rebounds had five steals and 3 blocked shots.

Lady Hoopsters Win Fifth Straight...

The Lady Rider basketball team won their fifth consecutive game on Friday over Chandler/Gilbert Community College, 86-73 to improve to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in ACCAC action. The Lady Coyotes fall to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

Men’s Basketball Stumbles...

After upsetting the #15 nationally ranked team on Wednesday, the men’s basketball team stumbled on Friday night falling to Chandler/Gilbert Community College 73-55. YC falls to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in ACCAC action while the Coyotes improve to 2-6 and 1-5.

Roughriders Upset #15 South Mountain...

The Roughrider basketball team beat the #15 ranked South Mountain Community College Cougars Wednesday night in the Storm Center, 81-72. YC improves their overall record to 2-6 and 2-3 in league play. South Mountain falls to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the ACCAC.

The Lady Rider basketball team won their fourth consecutive game Wednesday night over the visiting South Mountain Community College Cougars, 66-54. Yavapai improves to 5-5 overall and 4-1 in the ACCAC. South Mountain falls to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in conference action.

Day Inks With Utah State...

Roughrider softball player Tatem Day has signed an NCAA National Letter Intent to play for Utah State University. She will enroll and be eligible for the Spring of 2010. Last season Day hit .415 with one home run and 19 runs batted in.

Weather Cancels Basketball Game...

Due to inclement weather, the Lady Roughrider basketball game Monday night against Lake Region State College, ND has been canceled. The game will not be rescheduled. YC plays host to South Mountain Community College on Wednesday night with tip-off at 5:30 PM.

Borchert: ACCAC Player of the Week...

Women’s Basketball Wins In Final Seconds...

Kiara January hit a layup with 3.8 seconds left on the clock to give the Roughrider women’s basketball team a 49-47 victory over Scottsdale Community College Saturday night. The victory is the third consecutive for the lady hoopsters and improve their record to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the ACCAC.
