Soccer Starts 2018 Campaign with a 6-3 Victory

The Yavapai College soccer team opened their 30th season of intercollegiate competition with a 6-3 road victory Tuesday afternoon against South Mountain Community College in Phoenix. YC is now 27-3-0 in season openers and 59-4-3 in games played with temperatures of more than 100 degrees. South Mountain falls to 0-2-0 on the year.

Yavapai outshot the Cougars 28 to 11 and held a 10 to 6 margin on corner kicks.

The Roughriders returns to the pitch on Thursday at Phoenix College in a rescheduled match. In the opening game of the season in the 56th minute, the game was halted by lightning and rain with the score tied at 1 goal apiece. Thursday’s match, which will be replayed in its entirely, will begin at 7:00 PM.
