Softball Improves to 41-10 with Sweep of Gateway
The #19 ranked Roughrider softball team won their 40th and 41st victory on the season as they swept a conference doubleheader Saturday in Phoenix over Gateway Community College, 12-3 and 4-2. Yavapai is now 41-10 on the season and 33-7 in the conference standings.
Kiana Spencer got here second consecutive victory in the circle throwing six innings and surrendering 6 hits and striking out 3.
Brianna Griffiths and Neenah Pangilinan each had 3 hits and Kylie Brown and Shelby Hotchiss had two hits.
The offense was not as potent in the second game managing only 4 runs on 7 hits. Makayla Guerra and Jaydee Boursaw had two hits each.
Santana Parra got the victory from the slab throwing 5 innings surrendering 3 hits while striking out 2.
Yavapai returns home on Tuesday, April 17th to face Chandler-Gilbert Community College. In their first meeting, the Green and Gold dominated the Coyotes 6-0 and 12-2. Tuesday’s games will begin at 12:00 PM.
